ACTING
Where my journey into storytelling began.
Yes, I played “Mac” in Doom.
It’s the question I’m asked the most, and I’m as honoured as I am taken aback that so many people loved our film, and that I'm still asked about it some eighteen years later.
My journey into acting began with song. I was a chorister at school, and rather näively, I thought that it would somehow be easy for me to make the transition to musical theatre. All the same, many acting courses and exasperated dance teachers later, I was fortunate enough to make my professional theatre debut playing a lead role in Anything Goes - the biggest National Theatre show of that year.
A fellow actor from our West End run has often reminded me of something I said to him one night after I exited the stage. I told him that the next thing I wanted to do was to be in a movie where I had a big gun. And it happened. Only months later, I found myself in a stellar cast heading for Mars to kill mutants. As you do.
But all this wasn't just down to luck. Beyond a huge outlay of faith, funds and determination on my part, there are many who I owe my acting career to: my friends and family, tutors, casting directors, directors and producers, and most importantly, you, the audience. A big thank you to you all - I am very grateful.
GET EVEN
BBC/Netflix
I'm proud to be playing the role of Eduardo Wei in the new BBC/Netflix drama "Get Even", which is now on general release on Netflix.
Eduardo is the father of Kitty, one of the four lead characters, played by Kim Adis, (on the right of the picture). For Kitty Wei to be the go-getter that she is, takes a very supportive family. Ours was more like her fan club, replete with a "Go Captain Kitty" banner!
